I Want To Help Improve Young Baseball Players With This Blog

Hi There,

What I Am Trying To Do With This Blog Is Help Young Baseball Players
to improve and develop their baseball skills. I want to help all young
people ,that love playing baseball, to have more fun by being the best
player they can be. No matter what position they are playing.

I played shortstop and third base when I wasn't the starting pitcher
in our games. I had natural ability but grew up in a small Northern
Michigan town so we had limited playing weather. I also had no access
to good coaching for technique. It was all self taught by watching Tiger
games and learning to throw curves and screwballs by trial and error
with one of those pitch back nets I had in my last post.

My point is, nobody knows where the next Derek Jeter or Justin Verlander
will come from. If your child, or if you are the child, reading this, has
some natural ability, take advantage of these programs I post here. It will
help their development tremendously. I had no access to things like this.

One example is, I did not have a good fastball to go with my offspeed
pitches. I thought that all the speed came from your arm. I was wrong.
It comes from the push off from your legs. Or a good part of it. A good
fastball would have possibly gotten me over the hump to play professional
baseball which was my dream. Technique is EVERYTHING!

Well, thanks for reading again. I hope I am providing some good points
in my blog so kids can have a better chance at fundementals than
I did and maybe achieve their baseball playing dreams.

Thanks Again For Reading,
Screwball Pitcher

Baseball Memorabilia Collecting - Teaching Baseball To A Youngster - These Are Things I Love

Hello Again,

This blogging is interesting. You can take it anywhere you want. I played baseball or
softball into my 40's. I had some great coaches that I really looked up to. I learned the art
of the game from them and how to be a gracious winner as well as loser. I also learned
later in life that I enjoyed coaching kids and passing on my love for the game.

My favorite team is the Detroit Tigers as I am from Michigan. I once, when I was 18,
had a tryout scheduled in Florida with the Detroit Tigers to see if I could at least make
it to the minor leagues and possibly higher. Sadly, a week before I was supposed to go there,
I broke my wrist in a bad motorcycle accident. I had been drinking. I lost that opportunity
and it never came back. I broke my right wrist which was my throwing arm. As I said in a
previous post, I was a curveball pitcher and a screwball pitcher. Both pitches require a
sharp snapping of the wrist either left or right. After the accident and the surgery to
piece my wrist back together, I lost the ability to throw a good curve or any other
"junkball". I lost my dream from drinking and riding a motorcycle. I have passed
that on to many kids. Hopefully it stuck.

I occasionally run across good products that can teach kids certain aspects of the
game and will pass them on to you. I also see good team stuff on sales sometimes
and will pass them on also. I only send good stuff. Stuff I have bought and used myself.
One thing I love about baseball for youngsters is the fact it doesn't tear your body
up like football or soccer. Soccer kills the knees eventually.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the post and will write more later. Any question for me,
just post them and I will try and answer them.

Thanks,
Screwball Pitcher

A Blog For All Baseball Fans and Baseball Players

A Blog For All Baseball Fans and Baseball Players Hello,

Welcome to my new blog. I have not tried a true blog before. I thought I would try one on my favorite sport, baseball! I played a lot of baseball in my life. From little leagues all the way up to small college baseball. I even was supposed to have a tryout with the Detroit Tigers minor leagues, but a week before the tryout, I wrecked my motorcycle and shattered my right wrist. That was my throwing arm. bad luck.

The name of my blog, Screwball Pitcher came from the fact I was a starting pitcher on my team as well as a shortstop. I never had a great fastball, so I relied on junk. A very good curveball, changeup, and a screwball. My fastball was just for show or to knock somebody down. I had a very accurate arm.

I hope, in this blog to share and hear stories about baseball from fans and players. I also will look to share some funny videos and will also try to keep you abreast of any baseball related stuff available. I collect baseball memorabilia also. That's all for now. This blogging isn't as easy as it looks, LOL. Share any thoughts and I might answer.

 Thanks Again For Visiting,

Screwball Pitcher

P.S. Poor Fred! That Hurts!
